I can't get this to work at all. Feel like I just wasted $300.

same problem here, the monitor is going off after about 20 seconds on Macbook pro 2016 running Catalina

I have a similar issue. I use a Macbook Pro with 3 external monitors via a Thunderbolt 2 dock. One monitor is plugged in through the displayport that is passed through the dock and the other two through a displaylink DL-6950 device hanging off the USB 3 port of the thunderbolt dock (a StarTech USBA2DPGB). So clamshell mode works great with version 0.5.25 of displaylink manager.

The issue comes when I disconnect my Macbook Pro. Once I disconnect and open the lid the screen stays black. I then need to restart the machine.

There was already a thread on this very same subject. It is not supported right now. Please find that thread and comment there.

I'm facing the same issue. Can't close the lid of mac when connected with DisplayLink. Please fix this.

Seeing the same issue on my Mac. I can keep the lid open and the laptop display on but as soon as I shut it, It continues to recognize the laptop display as a 3rd screen and causes the dock software to constantly crash. Please fix this as soon as possible. Many of us are working from home and this is a nuisance. I'm also seeing the same problem when trying to connect 3 displays on my DOCK570USZ.

With computer open 2 external monitors (1 HDMI and 1 DP) work as expected. As soon as closing the macbook air I go to black screen. I can wake up and log in clamshell mode at that point with external keyboards. The external monitors work for exactly 40 seconds and then go back to black.
And it shows 3 displays in the System Preferences in clamshell mode.

Replicated this issue today. I have the same energy settings and use amphetamine to force my machine on while plugged in.

I've not had this happen on other docks I have used from other manufacturers.

I went to the Energy Saver preference pane and set "Power Adapter" settings to: check Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off and slid the caret for Turn display off after: to "never". I shut the lid on the MacBook Pro and both monitors are on (Samsung) and the native Retina display is off -- Clamshell mode equivalent.

I tested and 3 rounds of logging in and blacking out in clamshell were always 40 seconds. I also am having the issues where it still shows 3 displays in the System Preferences in clamshell mode.

I just found this thread just after i sent them an message for this exact issue.

I run Macbook (15-inch, 2019) with Radeon Pro 560x on Catalina 10.15.3.

I have to have my macbook open on the desk, as if i close the lid the screens goes to black and i have to login again after 1-2 minutes.

When it's running, it's running just fine as i disabled the automatic switching between gpu's, so i'm not lagging. But the monitors turning of in clampshell mode is super annoying.

Is there a fix i can do my self atm, or are someone at DisplayLink working on the issue?

I'm running into a similar issue. I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) running macOS Catalina 10.15.3 (19D76). I was able to successfully get my Wavlink WL-UG69PD1 to display by doing the following:
- installing the Beta Driver for macOS
- enabling screen record permissions for DisplayLink Manager
- running DisplayLink Manager App

I am running dual Samsung U28E590 monitors that are connected to my Wavlink via display port 1 and 2.

When I plug in my laptop with the displaylink manager app running I am able to get both monitors to work. However, they lag like crazy!

Additionally (this is the main issue), when I close my laptop and put into clamshell, the monitors will go black (as if on standby). I then move my mouse and it will come back on. THE ISSUE IM NOTICING: The monitors will come on, but system preferences still shows 3 displays (2 samsungs, and my laptop) - so it looks like my computer thinks it is still open even though it is closed and in clamshell. After a few minutes the monitors will turn off again and I'll have to move the mouse to bring them back up. After a little while longer, they'll go black and wont' come back on at all.

The issue to me seems to be that the driver/settings/displaylink manager app thinks that the computer is still on and displaying even though it is closed. Can we get a fix?!! I just want this to work!
