What is the maximum USB distance a device can be from a PC?

USB 2.0

On USB 2.0, the distance between a computer and a device or hub is stated to be five meters according to the USB specification. The maximum distance per USB 2.0 specification is 30m by using five hubs.

It is possible to extend the distance further by using networked USB solutions, however these devices may only support up to USB1.1 and not the USB2.0 standard. USB2.0 is required for DisplayLink's technology.
