Hello,
I just bought an Thunderbolt-3/USB-C Docking Station using DisplayLink Manager 5.0.1.
Everything seemed to be easy to setup, but unfortunately as soon as I wanted to watch movies on my external 4k Screen connected over DisplayPort iTunes threw an error that my screen is not supporting HDCP protected content playback.
Which is incorrect, it all worked perfectly fine, with my old Docking Station for Thunderbolt 2 at my old Macbook Pro.I'm running MacOS Mojave at both devices.
I'm a professional Software Engineer and I know it must be possible, as it's clearly working with other manufactures.May I ask you to give this high prio, it's unacceptable that this docking station offers dual 4K monitor at 60Hz by HDMI or DisplayPort, still not supporting high resolution content properly.
Please add this important information to your caveats section.
I wouldn't bought it if I had known this bug earlier. -
There is no trace of any ticket from this email address.
However, you are correct that if you were inappropriate or insulting, we would have closed your ticket without any reply. Being frustrated, whatever the level, doesn't mean our staff has to be insulted.I have renamed the feature for what you wish: enable HDCP playback support on macOS. That type of feature will require collaboration with the OS vendor so we can get access to the encrypted pixels, like we did with Microsoft and Intel for Windows 10. Software vendors also had to follow the OS implementation changes. Then, based on capability reported, the video player decides what it plays, if it plays. For instance today, Netflix lowers the quality for non-protected outputs.
Finally, it will also require that your hardware supports HDCP. Not all device manufacturers are DCP licensees. Being DCP licensee is a requirement for DisplayLink to be allowed to ship them chips with HDCP keys inside that they can use in their product. -

Hi,
I had to downgrade to Sierra 10.12.6 because of the multi-monitor incompatibility of Displaylink 10.13.4. I need my multi monitor setup. But the truth is that Displaylink 4.1, which is compatible with Sierra 10.12.6, deactivate iTunes movies. Here is the message:
The selected display won't play on one of your connected displays
This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). Try moving the iTunes window to a different display. Make sure the entire window is on the supported display.
When I removed Displaylink from OSX 10.12.6, iTunes movie start to plays again. In short, Displaylink makes my iMac see it's own screen as an external monitor, which is totally ridiculous from an programmer standpoint. This is not mention into know problems between Displaylink and Sierra 10.12.6. I manage to sent an email to the company without any respond. They probably did not liked the way I express dissatisfaction, but I was really piss that both version were causing major problem when using them.
Anyhow, anybody who need multi-monitor : downgrade to Sierra 10.12.6 and install Displaylink 4.1. Uninstalled it when you really want to watch a iTunes movie. Reinstalled 4.1 when you really need your multi monitor setup. Since I cannot upgrade in between 10.12.6 and 10.13.4, there is no way I can know if an update between those versions would had fix this ridiculous problem. At least now, I can do My job on multi-monitor and enjoy a movie on Saturday night by going through this annoying procedure i just explained.
Thanks
