Netflix playing sound only, no picture
fix it

Same with Amazon Prime and Netflix here on MB Air M1.
I only hear the sound but see no picture. I assume it has something to do with copyright and screen recording permissions. -

What is even the point of having multiple screens if it won't play HDCP/DRM content??

as per the comment, this seems to have worked for me.
Solution: Go into Chrome Settings. Search for "hardware". Disable "Use hardware acceleration when available" and restart chrome. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have images again.- Working on Chrome, would need to test the other browser but at least can watch
- Tested Brave Browser working
- Firefox- After disabling hardware acceleration on the above video is now playing
Hardware: Macbook Air 2020 m1
OS MacOs Montery vs12.6 -

This also affects every streaming platform that uses DRM and requires HDCP-compliant monitors.

just to be clear, that is not a feature if it works, this is a bug, as it does not work!

this is really annoying... netflix, amazon prime do not work as soon as i start the displaylink manager. once i end it, everything is back at normal. why nobody cares?

I just set up my wife's office with a WAVLINK USB 3 DisplayLink docking station and two 27" monitors. 2013 i5 based Mac Book Air. Everything works so great!!!! ....Until she wants to play Netflix or Hulu in a secondary monitor. Then - black screen. This thread is four years old. Depressing. No hint of any solution then? Guess I should have gotten her a smart TV instead of a second monitor. Who knew?

Another workaround - install Android Emulator with Google Play and on it install the app you need. I'm using it to play Udemy videos on one screen and work on the other screen without having the black screen issue.
Not sure how it would work for 4K content through Netflix / HBO Max apps though. -

Also getting this for the All4 channel 4 service. I suspect there's certain tags in the content that prevent screen recording and the DisplayLink drivers don't know how to handle it.

Using MacBook Pro M1. All drivers and OS is up to date. Display link is up-to-date and the Netflix image will not play. Sound, subtitles and popup button will show.
Youtube works without issues. As soon as I close DisplayLink, the image appears.

I can confirm when rolling back to Sierra and using the installation made for the product it functions well. I also have seen this error before when using vmware fusion and it boiled down to a stupid switch being enabled to allow the older package to access some internal "new macOS" package.
I develop software as well and can sympathize with DisplayLink and I too am not upset with DisplayLink but rather upset with MacOS pushing out releases and not communicating with software drivers that should work as expected.
The best advise I can give you all is this reading that had similar issues:
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/79989
I assume at some point the displaylink software will bear a cost and it will be to pay for drivers of older equipment and those who purchase new equipment will gain access to supported hardware "wink".

Netflix and YoutubeTV not working with display link running. This just started happening for me within the last month. I'm on a macBook Pro M1 running macOS Monterey.

People keep mentioning the existing issue but for it to suddenly appear overnight on already stable platforms, I would say it is build related. If it is to do with inerrant license restrictions, then a better explanation and a full refund as I do not want this piece of high-tech rubbish as it no longer fits the function for which it is needed.
