Convert OS Sleep/Standby to HDMI CEC
Can you map the OS display standby, sleep & wake state commands to HDMI CEC? Would be great if my UHD TV would turn off when OS sleeps or shuts down, automatically turn on when OS wakes up.
As it is, my Samsung UHD TV turns off shortly after OS enters sleep mode. I've enabled CEC, so the HDMI port stays active & OS sees monitor is still available. When OS wakes, its "turn on display" signal doesn't reach the TV. I use TV remote control to turn on the screen.
Nice idea, but the DisplayLink ICs available today do not currently support CEC, therefore it will not be possible to enable this.
Put an Extron HD CTL 100 in the signal path - problem solved.
CEC - Consumer Electronics Control https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#CEC
Passes "remote control" type commands between TV, DVD player...
Typical use case - Consumer turns on Blu-Ray player. In order to play the movie, Blu-Ray player sends power-on to TV over the HDMI. TV selects that input. Popcorn is consumed. Streamlines use of consumer electronics.
Would be great if computer HDMI adapters spoke enough of that language to integrate display power management.
