  1. Clear text logging for Displaylink on Linux

The logfiles in /var/log/displaylink currently contain hashed garbage. It would be nice if I could read them.

  2. Add support for ios 13 or make a product mainly for it.

Add support to ios ( idk if this is even possible ) but iOs 13 looks promising. A dock or stand for ipad pro for mainly desktop use would be great!

  3. Potential work around for the Catalina Mac OS update

I'm unsure if someone has already suggested this, but with the latest update Mac has rolled out (for Catalina 10.15), my DisplayLink stopped working with dual screen.

I have updated the driver to the most recent release, and all that would display would be one of the two screens. DisplayLink lists a possible solution involving entering recovery mode and inputting commands, however, I am impatient and lazy and did not do that.

But, I did get my dual display working again. For me, toggling my displays to mirror activated my dual screens, and toggling off mirroring has left my dual…

DisplayLink can already support mulitple USB displays connected on Android with the DisplayLink desktop app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.displaylink.desktop.demo&hl=en_GB

However Android does not have a concept of multiple displays like other OSes. As of Android Pie, a single app can use more than one screen, eg powerpoint uses the phone screen to show presenter notes, and the extended screen shows the presentation.

For DisplayLink to properly support dual displays on Android, like other OSes, changes would be needed to Android to support multiple displays.

  5. Start supporting Linux on Lenovo's Thinkpad hardware!

Lenovo is selling docking solutions for their Thinkpad laptos. These docks have DisplayLink stickers at the button but none of them is working properly with Linux! Deepin Linux (based on Debian) is massively used in China by IT professionals working with Lenovo's Thinkpad hardware. We want at least dual monitor support working with this hardware. At the moment getting this to work is just a big pain in the a**. :-(((((((((((((

  6. Add Debian support in general. As most Linux distros are based on Debian that would make your tech work on most Linux distros.

You don't have to reinvent the wheel: https://github.com/AdnanHodzic/displaylink-debian

That also would make it easy for Deepin Linux to adapt the drivers. Deepin is Linux distro #1 in China! Just think: Deepin + Lenovo (Thinkpad)

  7. Fix DisplayLinkManager and driver before it damages my MacBook

Mojave 10.14.6 with latest DisplayLink driver 5.2 on 2014 MacBook Air. Display is displaying correctly on Dell U2412M 1920x1200 display.

    BUT ...

DisplayLinkManager is hogging between 70% and 150% of CPU. Macbook fan is going crazy. Just a couple of static web pages on screen, no background tasks. Restarting MacBook sometimes fixes the issue, sometimes not.

This is not functional software, severely degrades MacBook performance, and can even DAMAGE the MacBook.

  9. Is there such a drive board design that can drive two 4K panels, and is it directly driven by type-C?

Is there such a drive board design that can drive two 4K panels, and is it directly driven by type-C?
In this way, DIYer can design its own portable display, which is double screen.
I suggest we design such a driver board to realize the portable display that slidenjoy designed in 2015.
That design hasn't come true. I've been waiting for so many years.

  11. add support for Ubuntu Touch

Ubuntu Touch originally developed by canonical is still being developed by ubports.
I believe it could benefit from display link technology for external display support
it is currently based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and is pretty well supported
it also uses an android container to interface with userspace drivers

  12. Engage the Linux Foundation to develop your drivers.

The Linux Foundation is the place to get things into the kernel. They will help you integrate your hardware into the mainline kernel without compromising any internal IP you may be worried about. Its really the only way to get a driver working for any OS. Work with upstream not against it.

This translates to Windows and OS X as well. I was frustrated getting my device working with Windows. Complete pain and not plug and play by any means. OS X Mojave doesn't work at all and Linux shows the same behaviour. Flickering on and off rapidly an when…

  14. support 4K monitors on Mac OS Mojave 10.14.5 (Macbook Pro)

My external monitor (Acer ET322QK) is detected with the 5.1 Displaylink driver, but only at 1080p resolution or lower. Any resolution above 1080p is unavailable for selection

  15. Implement IOMMU support

    Implement IOMMU Support
IOMMU is necessary on many libvirt based linux virtual hosts in order to allow guest machines to make use of the host's hardware, such as graphics cards and network cards. In its current state, turning on IOMMU results in Displaylink being unable to communicate with secondary displays, completely negating any benefit from having a displaylink dock.

  16. Add firmware / version information to the Dock Management Tool

While the firmware update is Silent, in large scale deployments it would be useful to know / be able to report on the Firmware version.
This would enable admins to rule-out old firmware as the cause of faults and detect where an older client is still in use.

If this information is readily available it could be added as another command in the Dock Management Tool, or in the Support Info Tool

  17. Conflicts using Nvidia Prime, Displaylink and Ubuntu

I would like to describe conflicts using Nvidia Prime, Displaylink and Ubuntu in my experience.

My environment: Ubuntu 18.10, Nvidia GTX 1070 (nvidia-driver-415), Displaylink 5.1, Asus MB168B+ (USB monitor), laptop Gigabyte Aero15x.

If I try to login with nvidia profile activated and anything connected in USB ports (even only a mouse), I will face a login loop. It only will stop after disconnecting all USB devices, restarting the system and then I'll be able to login into my Ubuntu. Once logged in, I can connect my USB devices and use everything included my second monitor.

    If I try to login…
