See all dockingstations of same type as same device
Hi!
We have installed a multitude of workstations with the same type of DisplayLink docking station. When moving from one station to another, the monitor settings are "forgotten" and the new Dell D6000 is seen as a completely new device, and new drivers and settings for monitors, network and usb are needed to be configured.
Therefore I suggest making it possible to have the driver think that all docks of the same type is also the same device. This will make this problem go away.
Thanks

Fix the problem where DisplayLinkUserAgent eats 38% of my CPU
OS is windows 10, DLUA is 7.9.6.30.0. This often gets in a state where the user agent sets there using between 35 and 38% of CPU.

Audio/Video profiles and shortcuts.
It would be helpful to have keyboard shortcuts for specific display profiles. I connected my dock to multiple monitors and would like to change the profiles as need. Everything has be done through menus now. When you have multiple settings to change, its cumbersome.
1 voteThis should already be possible using 3rd party monitor management tools, for example Actual Multiple Monitors, which is available from our website:

Add an option to make task icon invisible, when no device is connected
With the recent drivers the behavior of the task icon changed. It is now always visible. It would be great to add an option so that the user could define the preferred behavior.

Linux kernel version 4 unsupported.
Just tried building the displaylink driver using the displaylink-installer.sh on my Fedora Rawhide machine and look at the results!
./displaylink-installer.sh -?
DisplayLink Linux Software 1.0.68 install script called: -?
Distribution discovered: "Fedora release 24 (Rawhide)"
Unsatisfied dependencies. Missing component: Kernel version 4.2.0-0.rc5.git3.1.fc24.x86_64 is too old. At least 3.14 is required.
This is a fatal error, cannot install DisplayLink Linux Software.Hmm, 4 is older than 3!?!? Who Knew?!?! Need to fix the script.

Please allow the DisplayLink Driver to be disabled.
As someone who uses a dedicated GPU in alternation with the Integrated GPU. It is BEYOND frustrating when my Nvidia GPU will not switch on because of the DisplayLink driver software. There is no option in windows itself to turn it off, and there is nothing provided by DisplayLink either.
It cripples productivity when I have to UNINSTALL the DL driver just to use my dedicated GPU.
Please fix this before you guys release any additional updates as this has been going on for a LONG time now.
I love my AOC usb monitor. It's great, only after I install…

Linux: reach Windows feature parity (mirroring, scaling, and rotating)
Currently unsupported / broken in DisplayLink on Linux:
- Display mirroring
- Display scaling
- Display rotationThis really limits what you can actually do with DisplayLink on Linux - i.e. you can only currently have an extended display activated with no scaling or rotation. You can't even use only the DisplayLink connected display on its own.

integrate with package managers
It would be lovely if i could keep up with the latest display link drivers and software using brew or apt-get. I don't think that's super hard... better apple/linux support probably a priority... but yeah. I think you have a huge market with people who want the reliability of Apple and the display real estate offered by display link (since apple wants you to use their wimpy graphics cards, or pay through the nose for $1000 retina displays).
(I have 4 display link driven 24 inch screens connected to my mac, with the 2 supported by my laptop -- it…
1 voteThanks for the suggestion. For Linux we intend to supply and support a driver for Ubuntu, but have designed it to be repackaged for distribution to other Linux distributions.
We cannot be the experts to maintain this for all Linux distros. We intend to provide the tools to enable it to be ported and added to package managers by those familiar with the particular distro they wish to package it for.
If you have repackaged it for a package manager, please let us know and we can build a list of supported distros.

Linux driver update to support Kernel 4.9.*
Displaylink stopped working on the new 4.9 kernel because the EVDI kernel module does not compile.
There is a new release that supports kernel 4.9 and 4.10 of the EVDI library https://github.com/DisplayLink/evdi/releases/tag/v1.3.43.
Please also update the install file.9 votes -
TrayIcon should always display if installed
Suggestion: The DisplayLink Manager TrayIcon should show even if the hardware is not detected. In that case, it should provide links to helpful KB articles (or better yet, include the troubleshooting steps offline).
That would have saved me about three hours of troubleshooting a 3rd-party (LizTek) product before I finally stumbled on this site.
1 voteThank you for the suggestion. Now in implementation on v8.0 of our drivers. This will help the debugging by telling which element of the chain is missing. Today, the icon is only visible if drivers are installed, AND a device using DisplayLink technology is connected and running AND a working monitor is plugged into it.

No display driver due to secure boot
It would be good to mention that due to secure boot settings
it can happen that the evdi.ko driver is actually not loaded.
In this case no displays are found.A solution is to switch off the secure boot - see:

Support f.lux on Windows
Flux will reduce the amount of blue light emitted by the screen which aids going to bed. As it stands, there is no support for color calibration to DisplayLink connected monitors. DCC/CI commands are supported, but there are issues that make it not a viable solution (http://superuser.com/questions/257606/is-there-a-work-around-to-configure-brightness-or-color-on-a-displaylink-monitor).
809 votesf.lux latest releases have enabled support for DisplayLink indirect displays (Windows 10)
You can download f.lux from https://justgetflux.com/For the few wanted to do real monitor calibration, please contact technical_enquiries@displaylink.com to discuss how to enable this on your particular configuration.
