Can’t unlock the MacBook Pro with Apple Watch while displaylink is active
Can’t unlock the MacBook Pro with Apple Watch while displaylink is active because the machine thinks the screen is being shared. Please implement a flag to the OS that displaylink is not screen sharing but is an authorized virtual display.
Delivered in DisplayLink Manager 1.5. Details available from https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1977291 For individual feedback on this feature, please reach out to technical-enquiries@synaptics.com as individual replies are not possible via the idea board.

DisplayLink refuses to address this, despite the fact it only happens when their driver is installed. Message received, DisplayLink. I will uninstall your drivers and avoid purchasing any product that uses them. Goodbye.

I have the exact same issue. Please fix this!

DisplayLink have said they wont fix this (https://support.displaylink.com/forums/287786-displaylink-feature-suggestions/suggestions/35524279-support-for-unlock-with-apple-watch) as apparently not their problem.
Other docks do not have this issue, I believe this is actually a unique issue with DisplayLink docks and should be fixed. This would then fix 4k rotated screens too.

This is a DisplayLink issue as normal connected screens do not have problems unlocking. Please amend the driver to send the display through as standard USB-C rather than what it currently does. This would also fix problems relating to rotated and 4K screens.

I also have an IOGEAR device that works perfectly for Apple watch unlock while it is connected to mac on usb-c. So, it's definitely a display-link issue. if other manufacturers are able to get around it why not DisplayLink????

What a disappointment. Extremely irritating and a black mark on all Macbook accessories that use DisplayLink drivers. Please consider investigating this issue further DisplayLink!

There are multiple articles across the internet stating the same issue however when removing the DisplayLink driver or when simply using a dock station or adapter for multiple screens from a different manufacturer, the issue does not happen.
It would be nice if DisplayLink could review this and may be provide guidance to their customers how to work around as it does seems to be the driver is causing it, not the OS. -

Very interesting response from this company. DisplayLink, this is definitely a device driver issue and the way it is mapped to Apple. This is something that you should be addressing with Apple directly as they do not have any other solutions on their side that would make this go away for the consumers.
With that being said, I will be sure to avoid DisplayLink labeled products for any corporate purchases in the future as there is no cross compatible guarantee that it will function as needed.

Why is it that DisplayLink gets just about everything right, but misses the tiniest bit of functionality that acts as a daily irritant?
I don't buy the statement "This is being declined as it would need to be fixed by Apple. There is nothing we can do in the DisplayLink driver to fix this."
If you have a communication or working relationship issue with Apple, then just say it. Leaving it up to the users to plead your case doesn't sound all that professional.
How about, we are working with Apple to resolve the issue? But stating it's all up to Apple is corporate mishmash about passing the buck. -

I can also agree with others in this thread. This defeats the purpose of having the Targus dock running DisplayLink. We are looking at deploying this dock and displaylink as a standard across our company this being a hold up is preventing us from making this our standard with full confidence.

Wim - I am sure DisplayLink has a good communication line, and a paid support subscription with Apple. I would highly suggest that this is resolved between Apple and DisplayLink, and not between your users and Apple.

Ryan, this should be 32476727. Our 36045985 report was closed as dup of that one.

@Alban, Do you have an Apple Bug Report/Radar number (rdar://) that we can reference when submitting reports?

confirming 10.14.2 Beta (18C38b) "Unlocking with Apple Watch is not available while your screen is being shared". while D6000 docking station connected.

@Loki. The plumbing is different between direct and indirect displays, and the APIs are different too. If their own customers don't report this to them, the resolution may be prioritised lower than other items.
