I suggest you ...

macOS 10.13.6 works with airplay, but multiple users cannot set display.

Using the UD3900 dock with macOS 10.13.6 works. I have set up multiple accounts to isolate data for enhanced security. All users have mirroring, but only the first user logged in can set the resolution. The subsequently logged in users have the same resolution as the laptop.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a reason or fix?

OP: Follow up. Other people have seen this with AirPlay, so this is not necessarily issue with DisplayLink. To further clarify the issue: sometimes it's the first logged in user who gets control of the airplay resolution. At other times, it's the latest user logged in who controls the airplay resolution.

At all other times, the external display through display link works, only resolution is the same as MacBook laptop.

I'm still happy with the product thought, b/c the performance is pretty good.
