Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

So can you please just say if you can fix it or not and what your timeline is, so we can move on and buy some new gear, if Apple can't make this work.
One thing is for certain. I will not be buying any Mac ever again. What a piece of junk.

Im really getting the feeling that you guys really don't have a solution. I would be cool if you would just say that instead of just letting people wonder endlessly.

Please break the radio silence and tell us what the hell is going on...when is the next version of the driver coming...

@Jon Coley...
I researched this pretty exhaustively and it is quite surprising how many USB video cards use this same DisplayLink driver.
I would recommend finding a Thunderbolt based solution.
If you must have USB, Matrox products don't seem to use this same DisplayLink driver, but though I read extensively about Matrox, I did not test this.
The solution for me was to go pay Apple their blood money for a Thunderbolt to DVI adapter.

Gave up on waiting and threw money at the problem.
I am back up and running using, in my case, Apple's Thunderbolt to DVI adapter. $29. Apple has restricted use of USB-C video adapters, so at least for an immediate fix using the Thunderbolt port was the only way. (Even though I'm loath to give Apple 29 bucks for a problem they themselves helped create)
As for blame, Apple is responsible for releasing an update that made it difficult to pipe video through USB-C... However, somehow video must be able to get through because DisplayLink has released a driver that allows mirroring on OS 10.13.4... And in addition Apple has a dev program so DisplayLink should have anticipated this problem weeks if not months ago... and it sounds like they did but just didn't or couldn't take action.
For now I'll use the Thunderbolt to DVI on my work comp and take my USB adapter home and just keep my home computer at or below 10.13.3 for the time being.
At least in my case this was a several year old USB adapter that cost about $70 bucks and I feel like it has already had a good life... I cannot imagine having payed more recently though for a more expensive USB solution only to have it die this way.
Conclusion: Apple 40%, DisplayLink 60% responsible.

Guys, make sure you voice your concerns with Apple support as well. They claimed it was the first time they heard it when I called them.

Ok so there is no updates, no work around, and no solution. Would it be too much to ask if there is any progress being made on your behalf?

Is there any update on the 10.13.4 upgrade issue? it is very frustrating to not be able to use my monitors. Should I just go buy another monitor solution for Mac? This is the 2nd time since I bought the display link this has happened and I am wondering why?

Is there going to be a solution or should we buy another adapter? Please tell us so we can move on or wait. And if you think is going to be a solution is it going to last more than a month?

What a debacle.
The loss in productivity is ruining a 50 man team of engineers.
As the sole IT support person I can't see how I can role back 50 Mac Book Pro's to fix this stuff up.
I am now looking for an alternative solution. -

FYI I am experiencing continuously and absurdly high CPU usage (>25%) with beta2 driver. I need this fixed - I need the stupid driver b/c all the flex desks at my company have the wired network provided through this along with the external monitors (2 per desk). Cloning is useless - no one needs to see the same crap twice. We have thousands of these things for our flex desks and Mac support is bad enough here already and they DO NOT CARE that you have hosed all the Mac users.
