Black screens on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4+ and Mojave 10.14 Early Previews
The driver (DisplayLink Installer 4.1.11) doesn't work anymore withe macOS High Sierra bêta 10.13.4 (17E139) and newer.
Dear DisplayLink macOS users,
We are pleased DisplayLink 5.0.1 driver for macOS enables multiple extended display support on the latest Apple macOS 10.14.2 with additional features (clamshell and clone). We continue our strong support for the Mac platform and are working on delivering future updates with further performance improvements.
Driver 5.0.1: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257
If your DisplayLink enabled device does not seem to work on 10.14, this is most likely due to the OS blocking our kernel extension. Please ensure our kernel extension is enabled by the OS as described in our FAQ: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004
Should you still miss extended displays on latest macOS with latest DisplayLink driver, please create a support ticket so your particular case can be investigated. Here is how: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301
Due to changes in 10.13.4-10.13.6, it is not possible to enable DisplayLink extended displays, except one using Apple AirPlay. If your Mac is from 2011 running 10.13.4-10.13.6 and can’t update to macOS 10.14, you should remain with DisplayLink macOS driver v4.3.1 to enable one extended USB display using AirPlay, with additional displays cloned. An FAQ details how to enable Apple AirPlay with DisplayLink display for extend or mirror mode: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1854724
Audio and Ethernet functionality, where supported, stays unaffected in all versions.
We thank you for your feedback on DisplayLink products that helps us further improve our product offering.
Kind regards,
Alban

Anon below, that is a wonderful dock I used it heavily. But it's also a DisplayLink enabled dock, meaning no video for 10.13.4. I get that this is a needed feature for many, it's heavily impacted my workflow ... But Apple is doubling down on security all over, not just in video buffer. I want everything back to the way it was 2 weeks ago, but I honestly don't see that happening in the next month (I'd would absolutely love to be proven wrong). From an enterprise view there are other patches that Apple put into the latest update that has had other adverse affects, security is first and foremost. For Mac Pro machines (with TB3 or USB-C ports) look at Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C GenII docks. For non-pro machines that is a tougher call, there is not much USB based out there (DisplayLink is/was king), but if equipped with a Thunderbolt 2 or 1 port you can find many docks used.

@Jared I have an early 2015 Macbook Air w/ a Caldigit TS2. It works, but it depends on what you are trying to do with it? Are you driving 2 or more external monitors?
The Macbook air won't natively drive more than one external thunderbolt display, which is why I use a displaylink adapter. With the TS2 I have the native laptop display and 2 external monitors. One via Thunderbolt from the caldigit dock, and another via USB from the displaylink adapter. I haven't upgraded to 10.13.4 because of the issues reported here. I don't want to lose my second external display.
Also, upgrading to High Sierra already caused other issues w/ the displaylink Adapter. I cannot use the Apple Watch unlock feature when the displaylink adapter is attached. Fortunately it's attached via a USB hub with a switch (The Caldigit dock, while nice, really doesn't have enough USB ports.), so I switch the monitor off, log in, and switch it back on. Annoying, yes, but less annoying than typing the extra long passphrase I set after setting my machine to unlock via Apple Watch. Hoping that issue gets fixed along w/ this one in the next update.

Regarding Dell D3100, to @A, what do you think that unit is based on? Hint: DisplayLink. LOL. People are not yet understanding the size of this calamity.

Thanks @Eamon S,
I couldn't wait more as there is no visibility about the solution.
Who knows the issue would be resolved in a month (or more) later? So I spent a day to format my laptop and reinstall the old version.
I followed @Eamon's guide (thanks a lot!!), could get old version of OS X.Now I recovered from this mess, can focus on my work again.
This incidence was shared the experience with the company and DisplayLink will not be considered anymore at purchasing process.

DisplayLink - when are you going to have a fix for extended mode? Clearly, this is a problem for many of your users. Hot fix much!?!?

Workaround for 2 monitors. With the Startech multi-display port replicator, install the DisplayLink beta driver that will clone your Mac to one display. Then connect a Startech single-diplay adapter to your second display.

@Ryan I assume that you are using the TS3 that supports the Thunderbolt 3 and not the TS2? I have a late 2015 MacBook Air with 1 Thunderbolt 2 port so I wonder if the TS2 would also work? Can anyone that tries the TS2 report back on whether or not it works?

Someone posted in the DisplayLink forum that they "...did happen to find a alternative solution, Matrox DualHead2Go Digital ME works with macOS 10.13.4 its a bit more expensive than a DisplayLink adapter but it works in 10.13.4. Basically splits the display in 2. The dock and title bar end up split between the screens but it works". https://displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?p=85743#post85743
I have not tested it myself but thought I would pass it along in case anyone wanted to try it out. It appears to only have DVI-D outputs and I am not sure if getting a couple DVI to HDMI cables would provide the best resolution, but might be worth a shot.

Why was this not addressed before the release of 10.13.4.. you all should have had a copy of the operating system ahead to test throughly and work on a fix.. as big of an organization as you are you should have the ability to work with Apple on a solution ahead of time.. I repeat... AHEAD OF TIME not after you bricked everyones adapters...
I hope there is someone else out there with a better solution... I used to be a fan.. but well... see you later..
Sincerely disappointed,
KP

I am adding my voice of frustration and disappointment. I recently purchased a second screen relying on DisplayLink. The earliest we can have some sense of whether this will be fixed, how complete the fix will be and when to expect it will help us formulate our own strategy to deal with this failure. Please add my email to your list.

I just received a usb to hdmi adaptor the day after I upgraded to the new macOS release. I didn’t have any special need to do it but I haven’t received any warning about this issue after upgrading. A downgrade will cause me a waste of time so I’m thinking about sending it back to the seller. I have read there’s a new beta for the next release of Mac OS X 10.13.5. Are you aware if this new release will solve this issue or you will be able to release a patch to solve this issue? Clear communication to your “customers” is key to keep your reputation
