Improve performance of rotated screens on macOS

Chiming in on this one and suggesting DisplayLink Manager 1.1 for Mac also be evaluated for this. Rotation in Big Sur is shotty at best and when it does work, lag is horrible and rarely sticks between reboots.

Same issue with me. Mac OS 10.14, rotated 4K display 90 degrees and the lag is unusable

Adding to the pile. Even when the screen's upside down it's slow.

I run a triple monitor setup (left and right are rotated). Got this took work after I ditched DisplayLink Manager (uninstalled it) and got the driver linked on Plugable's site (even though I'm using a Dell 4k dock) {https://plugable.com/drivers/displaylink/mac/#install_catalina]. Some of the macOS animations show a bit of lag on these but I can watch videos and do normal tasks without noticeable lag (Mac mini, i7 6-core).

Same for me. Everybody reaching this page having this problem pls post so their devs maybe one day will come back to us and provide a reasonable answer. Im retuning my DisplayLink enabled product because of this issue. It's unusable and it is a shame.

Same issue, MacOS 10.15.6, DL3500 enabled , Legacy DisplayLink USB driver, really slow in rotated. DisplayLink manager even banned rotation for "unknown" reason

Same issue, I'mt testing it on MacOS 11, before our users upgrade and the rotated screen is very laggy. When I turn off rotation it works just fine.

Same issue. Bought a brand new dock (Aug 2020) and I cannot configure the screens the way I need them to be. Additionally, it takes a good 20-30 seconds for my external displays to appear. Very annoying.
I will be returning the dock and looking for a dock that does not use DisplayLink [telling myself: good luck]. Sick of Apple and all of the accessories you need to buy. 75% of them don't work. My productivity has tanked thanks to places like Apple and DisplayLink. I spend 50% of my week trying to solve simple IT issues that 10 years ago were never a problem.

Rotated screen option:
This works for me (Cmd+Options). The first time I tried, the rotate option didn't show up but after restart and tried again, it did. So...maybe give it a few tries?

So by looking into the history of this thread, we can figure out that there used to be a lag on rotated screens and while users had been waiting for the fix, the rotate option just disappeared. So the lag problem has been resolved by removing the option to rotate. Was it down to the fact that screen rotation at that high resolution was computationally heavy and there was no way to get around that?

There is a thread for the same issue from 2011: https://displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=908, one of the users recommended using the display-rotation-menu app: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/26900/display-rotation-menu, unfortunately, last time it was updated is 2008...

Is there any update on this? Lack of rotation option makes the external screen unusable for many.

Same issue here. The issue seems to have been an issue for 4 years, at least? Is there some underlying problem with the dispalylink setup that this isnt possible to do without the performance issues?
