automate recovery of of known issues
use disable monitor (github) like code, or partner with that fellow to configure reliable placement of primary and tertiary displays. Such software could also probably be used to automate the recovery steps for the osx beta involving turning off all monitors and turning them back on... etc. Could be scripted and done without the user. At the least, check out the prj for quicker QA...
1 voteThis can be done today, using standard OS interfaces. DisplayLink displays can be managed using OS APIs.
Any known issues or problems that can be detected or worked around are already done today.

Make DisplayLink drivers work with suspend on Ubuntu
My DisplayLink-attached screen went awry after resuming from suspend, and I see that it's a known issue. Not being able to use suspend on a laptop is a major loss of functionality for me.
3 votesThis should now be working with Ubuntu release version 1.2

Resolve the compatibility issue with Duet Display, Twomon, Spacedesk, etc.
After I purchased a USB Type C dock driven by DisplayLink technology for my laptop, a big issue derived: every time I want to use Duet Display with my iPad Pro or Twomon USB with my Pixel C, I would have to uninstall the DisplayLink driver before I plug any of my tablets. When I get home and try to connect to my dock, I would have to go through the setup process again. This is just a big inconvenience for people like me.
17 votesThanks to the new driver architecture with Windows 10 Anniversary Update onwards, this has been completed.

Alert to security issues if staying on older macOS
UPDATE macOS, abandon this unstable and insecure devices instead. Apple says DisplayLink is incorrect and opens you to a world of security flaws. I can open a port on the Ethernet using simple SSH commands that shouldn’t be that easy.
You advise not to update. Apple says the opposite and you are misleading customers into possible security issues. Reported and under review by Apple. Good luck, you have truly done your Apple patrons wrong in more than one way.
If you can’t build an alpha in a year, this beta should land about the same time I land on…

Can you fix the issue with dual graphics cards?
I have had a problem with your displaylink products for months now, it's causing my entire OS to hand. It seems I'm not the only one, I found the below forum post showing multiple people have the same issue.
http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63963I've tried cleanups, reinstalling the latest drivers and all I could think of. The only way I can get the system to stop crashing is if I always reboot my PC right after I disconnect display link each and every time which is ridiculous. I wouldn't buy a laptop if I wanted to reboot 5 times a day.
There is…

So are you going to FIX the video versus mass storage device USB driver issue between Windows 10 Anniversary and HP Docking HSTNN S01X ?
So are you going to FIX the video versus mass storage device USB driver issue between Windows 10 Anniversary and HP Docking HSTNN S01X , or are we just out of luck?
1 voteThis cannot be fixed by DisplayLink as we now need to use the Microsoft USB driver. The Microsoft USB driver cannot support switching USB configurations, which is required to support these docks. This means there are no plans to fix this issue.

Issue Logging tool for Displaylink
Considering that displaylink is growing in our company we are facing more complications with Displaylink not working on particular models very well like MS surface devices. But it is also now happening to our Dell estate. So maybe DisplayLink can come with a logging tool so that when it is used it creates a dump which we can pass on to help get an answer from you quicker.
1 voteHello, thank you for the suggestion. Here is a link to a tool gathering the machine details and logs for troubleshooting. It also packages it in a ZIP file, ready to communicate to technical support

Please use versioning format x.x.xx instead of x.x (xx)
We are trying to automate software updates and track inventory of DisplayLink drivers in our macOS environment. Trying to parse versions when the value reports as `4.1 (11)` or `DisplayLink Driver 4.1.11 - Copyright 2003...` makes it difficult.
In the driver Info.plist file, please set the `CFBundleShortVersionString` key in the x.x.xx format. Even better, clean up the `CFBundleGetInfoString`

Main display taskbar setting issues with surface pro3
On my surface pro 3/win10 with a toshiba dynadock the right side of the taskbar (notifications/time/etc) always has it displaying on the surface pro3 screen even tho when i go into display settings it shows that one of my external monitors is the main display.
If I make the surface screen the main screen and then switch it back to an external screen then the external screen will have the correct taskbar functions.
If I change it to another external display then that display will not display it correctly and if i switch it back to the original main one…
3 votesHaving investigated this, it looks to be specific to Windows on the SP3.
DisplayLink drivers and software make no changes to the position of the task bar. The OS certainly thinks that the DisplayLink display is the primary monitor, but does not always move the task bar to reflect this.
There is nothing DisplayLink can do to change this behaviour.

Issues with OSX using 802.1x using System Keychain
We just deployed a few hundred of these devices (The Dell D6000)and the OSX devices will not use the system keychain to authenticate to 802.1x, This works properly with the onboard NIC, Apple USB-C Adapter, Belkin USB-C Adapter.
We use an OSX Profile that states how to connect to 802.1x with ethernet using system credentials. This does not work with the Displaylink Dock. I can however manually input credentials manually and it works, but no user accounts are allowed to authenticate only machine accounts.

fix the random logout issue with Displaylink on a Macbook pro
My idea is that the driver is usable without logging me out because the display server crashes on my MBP. This happens once or twice a week causing me to lose work, get disconnected from meetings, etc.
4 votesThis requires fixes from Apple on later versions of OS X.The crashes do not occur on 10.8, even though it is the same driver.

Charging via DisplayLink to device information
Can you please review/update your information surrounding Android vs USB-C vs DisplayLink vs Charging? There is lots of conflicting information around this online (mostly on your site!) - most referring to periods pre-2016.
It is hard to ascertain if a DisplayLink device is a solution to my consumer scenario/issue at home.

Better linux support
Better linux support, updated drivers, Fedora support (that means distributing an RPM)
Fix the issue where closing X for the first time means that the devices are no longer recognized by xrandr
Fix the slowness disparity between running it in linux and running it in windows
windows = no lag
linux = lagImprove your linux drivers.
96 votesThanks for the feedback. The Ubuntu release is provided to give the tools to be able to port to other Linux flavours.
An RPM has already been created and available here: http://nothen.com.ar/en/support-for-displaylink-adapters-on-linux/
We would be happy for the community to maintain packages for other Linux variants, based off the DisplayLink Ubuntu package.
The issues you are seeing with stability and performance are more due to the X system. DisplayLink do not intend to start changing the Linux OS to address these issues.
The performance is slower than Windows due to the way we get screen update changes. A change on any screen makes all pixels update on all screens, giving us many pixels to encode and send over USB. If the Linux graphics subsystem just notified of the areas of the screen which had changed, this would minimise the changes needed to be encoded by DisplayLink and remove the…

Do not update to DisplayLink version 7.9M3 on Windows 10, your displays will stop functioning.
DisplayLink just auto updated to version 7.9M3 on Windows 10. My displays stopped functioning and would not start working again, even though the dock was properly recognized in Device Manager. Uninstall current version and return to version 7.9M2 and your displays will begin working again. DisplayLink needs to address this issue.
13 votesV7.9 M3 is required to be compatible with the latest Intel and NVIDIA graphics drivers on Windows 10.
If you are having issues, please let us know through the contact area of the support site, including as much information as possible and your DisplayLink log files so we can look into it further.

Monitors randomly blacking out - SOLVED
If your monitors are blacking out using your DisplayLink D3100 check your chair.
I was having issues with my dual monitors randomly blacking out. After updating s/w, drivers and replacing the D3100 nothing worked.
As strange as it sounds, I was finally able to determine the cause was my chair. I have documented this in two videos.
1 voteThe alternative could be to use better EMI immunised cables. These usually have ferrite beads which help eliminate transients.

Repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting (STILL)
I'm running an ASUS ROG G56jk-EB72 Gaming Laptop with the latest version of Windows 10 (As of 11/12/2015) 64-Bit. CPU: Intel (R) HD Graphics 4600 & GPU: Nvidea GeForce GTX 850M. Trying to project onto two additional Insignia displays using two Targus USB 3.0 to HDMI HDTV Video Adapter. So I spent about $300 for the displays and $160 on the video adapters and this doesn't even work. I am beyond frustrated. All of my drivers are up to date. I followed the steps as instructed by the troubleshooting page; "How to fix your DisplayLink product from repeatedly disconnecting and…
